massive, grundlegend hitzige und ganz schön vertrommelte sounds auf dem original, dass sich mit stolzen detroitbässen, ravigen sirenen und immer breiter losgefeuerten sequenzen in ein massives monster verwandelt, das wirklich alles einreißt.
wenn jemand nach einem unschlagbaren peaktimeravehit sucht, das ist er diesen monat.
heiliger sägezahnhimmel.
die kerosene- und sassy-remixe auf der rückseite sind wesentlich entspannter und das brauch man nach so einem track auch.

Edgar9000 returns to Athletikk with another belter, Pink Influenza A.W.A.R.E., it’s a percussive delight full of crisp off beat hi-hats, impromtu run rounds and solid kicks, then there’s the female vocal describe her crazy passion for music and an infectious bassline that goes up and down like musician practising their scales but it rocks, big time……
Add to this two classy mixes from Sassy which are both as good as each other both are driving well crafted grooves that use slightly more of the vocal and then there’s a tech masterclass of a mix from Kerosene that is cut and pasted with precision, and filtered with more purety than an expensive Russian vodka and features the female vocal with great reverb and echo effects done with creative style.
Yet again, another superb package from the ever consistant Athletikk Records

Edgar9000 war schon immer ganz schön eigenwillig und
“Why Not Take Both” legt noch einmal einen drauf.
Die Sounds sind stellenweise so unheimlich,dass sie einem das Hirn
aus der Nase ziehen, die Grooves dabei so perkussiv deep und funky
und die Oldschoolhinterhand immer bereit abzuräumen.
Technoid verschlängelte, grandios weiträumige Inszenierungen,
in denen man sich schon einmal komplett verschwinden kann.
Kein Wunder, dass ein Track wie dieser dann auch noch eine
18 Minuten Bonusversion bekommt.
Aber auch der Titeltrack ist so und selbst das etwas konkreter
pulsierende “Elastic Onions” braucht schon einen starken Kopf.

Edgar9000 has always been pretty headstrong and “Why Not Take Both”
again puts on it.
The sounds are partly so sinister that they suck out the brain from the
nose, the grooves in the meantime so deep and funky percussive
and the Oldschoolbackhand always ready to clear everything away.
Technoid meandering, magnificent wide-range staging in which one
can easily completely disappear.
No wonder that a track like this then also gets a bonus 18 minutes
version.
But also the title track itself is as and even the more specific pulsating
“Elastic Onions” need a strong head.bleed

H.E.A.D. “EFS”

athletikk is proud to re-release the legendary H.E.A.D. debut album “EFS”
which appeared originally on “blue” in 1994. Recorded in a Brooklyn kitchen,
this album made a huge impact on Fatcat Records who covered a whole wall at their London shop with EFS.
At the time it changed how people would receive ambient music and electronica was born.
The NYC Illbient scene was highly inspired by the freshness of EFS headed by
DJ SPOOKY/That Subliminal Kid.
H.E.A.D. signed a multi album deal with psychedelic cult label Harvest/EMI
who already discovered Bands like Pink Floyd, Can or Thomas Dolby to name
a few.
No computers were used on this record instead tons of analogue and shortwave radio that made EFS an all time electronic classic.
“EFS” is completely remastered, uncut and
features a brand new club track/remix:
“INTO YOUR HEAD AGAIN”.
